1.         What made you decide to create a bondage site?

Well, Paige and I had a ton of personal photos that we took over the years and when the internet came along, we saw others sharing what they did and we wanted to do that as well. Paige isn't the shy type and was all about sharing our love for bondage so a great guy in England who runs a free site, www.blackfoxbound.info, made some galleries for us and were so well received he offered to build a web site for us called, lamely enough, Girls In Bondage.  lol A year or so later Robert Deane saw our stuff and offered to have us join SweetTies.  NaughtyTies was born and we've never looked back.

2.         How much work goes into running a bondage site? What does it entail?

The biggest thing is the time involved. First there is the scheduling of models and working out the details via e-mails, especially if it's a new model to me. I have to make sure about hard limits, physical restrictions, etc., so that when shoot time comes, there are no surprises and everyone is on the same page.

Then there is the post shoot work which can be pretty dull to be honest. I edit all the photos personally for NaughtyTies, do the write ups for each set and have to make sure my webmaster has what she needs to keep the site running smoothly. We have a sister site as well, www.badmanvideos.com, which, again, I have to break up the vids into the sizes I want and make sure they are sent in a timely fashion for posting. Then there are the clips stores, we have two active....the bondage store and a tickle store and that is pretty time consuming as well. Paige edits the avi files then sends those to me where I break them into clips, pull vidcaps for the previews, do the write ups and get them posted, which I do every single day, 365 days a year. So, yeah...it's a time consuming thing...for us at least but it seems to work well.  :)

3.         How much work goes into preparing for a bondage shoot?

Actually not a lot, mostly moving furniture around and making sure the lights are ready for use if need be. Getting rope sorted and making sure the gags and toys are clean and ready for use, sometimes we'll hang sheets on a wall for background but for the most part it's pretty simple.

4.         How do you decide what outfits or positions will be used for one of your shoots?

I'm pretty set in what I like my girls to wear. I prefer full nude a lot so no outfit worries there, but if I do have the girls wearing something, I prefer revealing/sexy outfits, stuff that would be borderline legal in public. Extremely short cutoffs, tight tops, teeny skirts, etc. and, if the model doesn't have what I like, I simply have her shoot naked. lol

As for positions, I tell each model that I have no idea what position she'll end up in; I play that by ear in each video. She may end up in a tough hogtie or maybe a ball tie, but we always have a safe signal if things get too extreme. Much depends on her endurance but going in I have just a basic idea of the position and let it flow as we shoot.

5.         Describe one of your typical photo and video shoots from start to finish.

I haven't done a straight up photo shoot in maybe 6 years, we shoot all video but take pics along the way, thus killing two birds with one stone, which has worked out very well. A typical vid shoot is really laid back for us. We usually shoot three hours and get 4 vids in that time frame so the pace is very relaxed and the models really seem to appreciate that. I typically shoot a girl multiple times so they know the drill. We'll go through a few outfits, pick something for the theme I want, go over how I want them to react…sometimes feisty, sometimes frightened, sometimes bitchy, make sure hard limits are known and simply turn on the cams and start shooting. We'll chill between each video where we go through it all over again to make sure she knows what I expect and, when we finish for the day, we sometimes go to dinner or have a few drinks out by the pool. We've made a lot of model friends over the years and it makes the whole thing much more fun than work.

6.        What has been the most memorable moment for you out of all the shoots you’ve done?

The most memorable moment? Wow, that's hard to pin down, so many models have done so many incredible things, but, if I had to choose one, it was a recent shoot we did with Raquel Roper.

She and I have an amazing chemistry, and I mean off the charts trust and it's to the point where she has given me carte blanche to do anything I want no questions asked. So I have her tied face down in the garage with her ankles tied to a spreader bar, her ass is up in the air and she has absolutely no idea what's going to happen next. So in I walk with an enema bag and when she sees it her eyes got so big, I thought they were gonna pop out of her head! Come to find out she had never gotten an enema in her life and her reactions were absolutely priceless!  Yeah...that was special.  :)

7.         What is your policy about models bringing escorts or chaperones to your bondage photoshoots?  What is the rationale for that policy?

This is a toughie and as we speak is a bit fluid and depends on several factors.

At first I was fine with them and for a long time had no real issues, but it got to the point where boyfriends were taking pictures over my shoulder, suggesting things and just being a nuisance. And it got worse when we started doing the more hardcore stuff. In many of our vids I'm physically molesting the model, using toys, finger fucking them, etc., and husbands/boyfriends would give me dirty looks even though everything was agreed on before we started. Then the model would be arguing with her significant other in the bathroom or outside and it just got to be too much drama.

The final straw was when during a two girl shoot I had them tied upstairs and they were doing all the whimpering and yelling a kidnapped girl does in our vids and both boyfriends kept running up and interrupting asking if they were okay and it got to a point where I stopped the shoot and had everyone leave. Just not worth the aggravation.

Plus we've had money and various household things stolen so unless I know who that escort is, I don't want them in my house.

8.         What is the dream shoot you have not yet done during your career as a rigger and site producer?

I remember when I first started in the business, I had a huge crush on Jewell Marceau. I mean she's so damn beautiful, can take huge gags and very tight bondage and I always said that if I ever get to tie her elbows, my career dreams would be fulfilled. Well several years later Mikey (FetCon) hooked me up with Jewell and I finally got the chance to tie those elbows and gag her with the biggest gag I had so, honestly, if I quit today, there isn't anything I'd look back on and wish I had done.

9.                What are your favorites:  gags, type of restraint, model wardrobe, bondage position for the model?

Fav gags to use are ballgags, they are just so effective when used properly...meaning strapped tight enough to where the girl can't push it out of her mouth.

Restraints...I'm a rope guy, but I'll use zip ties on occasion.

As far as model wardrobe....like I mentioned above, I like tight and revealing outfits like spandex work out clothes, skin tight jeans and belly baring tops are also favs of mine. When it comes to undies, I insist on thongs.  I hate those boy shorts even though the girls like 'em…not me...hides too much of their butts.  lol

My favorite position is a ball tie. It's more effective than a hogtie according to all the girls I've tied in one and to see them barely able to move a muscle is great bondage eye candy!

11.       Can you describe your very first bondage shoot and then describe how you’ve seen your style/technique evolve since that first shoot?

I assume my first shoot other than with Paige and was with Vesta and a girl they were shooting who we became good friends with named Charlee Chase. Via an e-mail, Vesta invited us to come to their place in Florida when Paige and I were still living up in Valdosta Ga. and I was as nervous as a long tail cat in a room full of rocking chairs. Mike and Vesta were already industry icons and I was just some guy with a hot wife and some rope and now I was going to tie professional models for the very first time, but Charlee and Vesta made it so easy for me, very relaxed and easy going.

Here's an interesting tidbit from that first shoot that I still find hilarious and shows what a newb I was back then. So I have Paige, Charlee and Vesta hogtied on the floor but not yet gagged when Charlee said there was a piece of black lint on her boob and would I please get it off before I took any pics. I'm like...me? You want ME to take it off? Charlee laughs and says yeah, so I kneel down but I can't see the lint. There I am moving her boob all over the place but still can't find it. I'm so damn nervous and she's laughing her ass off as I handle her tit until finally I find the damn thing and pull it off. Never forgot that moment!  lol

As you can see now I have no fear of touching a girl's boob...or anything else for that matter, so I've evolved big time since that day back in 2004. And as I shot more models, I learned how to adapt to their physical limits and figured how to tie a girl accordingly, but it's always a learning process which never ends.

12.              Are there any riggers/producers who have influenced you over the years? And if so, how?

Good question and I have two answers. As for rigger I think that John Savage has had the most influence on how I developed my style. The first bondage magazine I ever bought was John Savage's Notebook # 1 and it introduced me to the wonders of elbow bondage. At that time I really never knew it was a "thing" but when I saw those images of girls with their shoulders wrenched back from having their elbows tied, I was hooked! I have all his magazines and still use them for reference to this day.  :)

As a producer...I'd have to say John Blakemore. His ruthless style combined with the highly sexual overtones always struck a chord in me. It's what bondage is all about in my eyes and that's why I incorporate a lot of his themes in my videos.

13.       How do you find the models who appear on your site?

Actually I'm pretty lucky in that I usually have an inbox full of messages from models seeking work, plus living in Tampa, they really do fall from the trees. I'll occasionally poke around ModelMayhem or FetLife and send a message, but it's mostly good references from models that send others my way.

14.  What are your thoughts on the piracy of bondage content on the Internet where your work is posted elsewhere without your permission?

It pisses me off! That being said I do understand it's part of the world we live in so about all I can do is report stuff when I see it. In a weird way I almost.....ALMOST understand why some people re-post stuff thinking they are doing no harm. It's naive but understandable to a point. It's the assholes who claim everything on the net is public domain and too bad for us producers. But it takes money out of my pocket and they have no regret for that at all...that's what really gripes me.

15.       How do you respond to this statement:  BDSM equals abuse of women?

Uninformed. Naive. Maybe ignorant.

It's like me making a blanket statement about quantum physics. I have zero knowledge about it so when people condemn something or make judgments they have no knowledge about, I think it's sad.

Ya know it's funny too because a LOT of the girls I work with also do glam stuff and every single one.....and I mean every....single...one... all say that the bondage guys are more respectful of them, yet we tend get the shitty reputation just because it's not as mainstream.

16.       What is the hardest, toughest or most difficult aspect of being a producer of bondage content?

Hmmmm........that's kind of tough to nail down, but I guess for me it's trying to find new themes and keep things fresh in the videos. Only so many ways to tie a girl and it can be a challenge to come up with new themes and scenarios for every video. I don't always succeed in that, but I try to give my fans/customers something special as much as possible.

17.       What advice would you give to a person who wants to begin a bondage website as a producer/photographer/rigger?

Patience! I've talked with quite a few new producers and they tend to get discouraged when the money doesn't roll in like they expected. It's a very crowded world out there and it takes time to get noticed. And also it's best to go out of your comfort zone at times to attract more customers. For instance, even though I dislike pantyhose, I'll shoot it on occasion because I know there are folks out there who love hose. Be diverse and be patient is my best advice but above all enjoy yourself.

18.   How do you manage to stay professional when you're working with all these glamorous, really attractive women?

That's a question I actually get asked a lot, so much so I did a writing on my FetLife port to address it.

Not to be overly simplistic, but I treat it as a job, plain and simple. A VERY good job but a job nonetheless and I act accordingly. The fact that much of our material is highly sexualized actually doesn't come into play. It's a trust between model and producer that's paramount and I could never do anything to screw that up, hence models seeking repeat work.  :)  Now that's not to say I don't get turned on now and then by doing what I shoot. I learned early on that it's okay to enjoy crazy hot girls in tight bondage being sexually taken advantage of and I just keep it professional is all. Plus Paige does most of our videography and she wouldn't let me get away with any funny business.  lol

19.              What else do you want your fans to know about you and your work?

Just that I'm lucky enough to make a good living doing what I love. Not many people can say that and I consider myself extremely fortunate and appreciate the fans who have supported our sites/stores over the years. That means a lot!

I met Jerry and his wife, Paige, for the first time at Fetish Con in 2008 and we quickly became good friend, keeping in touch throughout the year.  When they heard that I had never attended a bondage shoot, they remedied that and invited me to attend several of their shoots (one with Candle Boxxx and another with Niki Lee Young). Attending those shoots was fun and interesting as well as educational because it was only then that I realized just how much work goes into a bondage video and photo shoot.

Enjoy the interview!

Just one more interview that shows how level headed so many are in the business. Like :iconcuria-dd: mentioned, so many just seem like the kind of folks you could sit and talk on your deck with a couple of steaks on the grill. Can't wait to read another.

Just out of curiosity, has it ever come up with any of the producers or models to make a movie with all the bells and whistles, high end production and not done in a hotel room, like a Hollywood production more along the lines of a "Secretary" or "Fifty Shades"? This isn't meant to diminish what they do, but like so many things, takes a lot of $$$$ to something like that, just wondering if it's ever been explored by the likes of Jerry or others.

I agree with Denise and can confirm that it is fun to do just that  :)

I think the movies are actually done, but not by most producers.  The folks at Kink and Insex do, from time to time, put out 60-120 minute features and some of them occasionally even have a plot  lol  The only other one I know of who puts together videos in line with a Hollywood production is Jim Weathers at Bondage Café. He spends a lot of time and money on his O Girl series with costumes, actors/actresses, props and special effects. For most sites though, I think full length productions are cost prohibitive in terms of money and time.

I find it funny and sad in equal measures that everyone has the same response about piracy. Also props to Jerry for staying professional!
I'd like to see an interview with a producer whose work you perhaps don't particularly like because of his methods, for contrast. You've mentioned- not by name- that many producers have less than optimal respect for their models. I find the concept intriguing.

I don't think that those producers would be willing to give an interview. But, you can tell from some of the comments from the models in their interviews that there are such producers out there.

I am glad you liked the interview!

I really love these insights into the industry! It definitely for me makes it easier to understand and makes it feel real, like I feel like I know these people, I could go out to dinner with them and enjoy their company!

LOL  You can probably already read my mind and know what I'm about to tell you but I'll say it anyway!  Come to Fetish Con and I can make that dinner happen.  It's funny going out to dinner or breakfast because the staff at most restaurants really love the fetish crowd because they are interesting (and they tip well), but you really can talk over meals away from the Con too and get to know people.

I met a guy last year -- the boyfriend of a model -- and we talked comic books and James Bond movies the entire time. It's a very down to earth bunch of people who just have "different" jobs. Jerry took me to a great breakfast place in Tampa for years. Leaving that restaurant when the Con relocated was one of the downsides of moving from Tampa.

:)  I think I'm just a lucky guy!

When I went to BondCon in NYC back in 2002, I was a fanboy, but I was lucky enough to meet people who introduced me around and I kept meeting more people. I never imagined things would work out the way they have.

I'm glad you liked the interview!
