INTERVIEW WITH CANDLE BOXXX

1.  Where did you come from?  And how and why did you get involved in the world of Internet bondage modeling?

Oh boy, we are going to have to have a very serious talk. When a man and a woman love each other, or at least have a lot of vodka in their system, they do a very special horizontal dance. This is where I came from!

The genesis of the Internet bondage modeling was kind of a fluke. I started out as a glam model, and the offers started coming in. Since I had a boyfriend about a dozen years ago who tied me up and took pics, it was not a stretch to do this.  And dare I say, that I have some leanings toward being a lifestyler?

2.   What does being a bondage/fetish model mean to you?  Do you do it because it's a way for you to explore your own desires or do you do it as a way to satisfy the desires of those who look at your work?

There are so many answers to this one! Depending on the day, there will be very different answers! It completely depends on who is doing the rigging. There are people that I want to please and would do anything they asked. There is also the creative process and almost a redneck "Look ma! No hands!"  With people that let me, I come up with the most bizarre and creative positions/scenarios. Thank goodness that a lot of people let me go wild! I encourage people to have a side camera for all of the out takes and bad puns that occur. There is also a strange level of proving myself and taking as much as I can. When I first started, I was not taken seriously because I did so much glamour work, but that made me want to do more as I learned more and more about what I was capable of. Who knew I had such a big mouth and could take an economy size ballgag?  Lastly, there have always been a sub leanings since I was young. I would walk around with my hands behind my back in a submissive style. Imagine my surprise when I found out there was a name for the position I walked around in....Reverse prayer! So it is not much of a stretch either to fall into this line of work!

3.  Can you describe for me what you feel/experience when you're in bondage?

Again this is dependent on the person doing the rigging. I have only felt frustration or anger in about 1 percent of the shoots, and that was because I had no respect for the person and they were not nice people. Most of the time, there is respect knowing that my fate is in their hands. It is very humbling and I have always respected people who put me in my place as opposed to someone who kisses my arse. Of course I may not like hearing it at the time, there is something blunt and honest about it.  As someone who is a control freak (may be a harsh statement), and a very ritualistic person, it is rather liberating to have the freedom to let someone else be in control.

4.  You've worked with so many different people in so short a period of time and you can be found on countless web sites.  Do you ever turn down jobs?  And, if so, why?

Yes! The models talk amongst ourselves just as much as the producers. If there is a bad rep, I am not going anywhere near them. And unfortunately I have to turn down jobs based on time. There are so many offers coming in (Thank goodness!) and not enough days to do them. Although I am going to have to limit the traveling. It is getting to be too crazy. The second I leave town, a tenant in a rental house will call me and tell me there is a leak or something of that ilk.

5.  And, as a follow up to the last question, who have you not yet worked with that you want to work with? And why?

Moraxian! He supposedly puns and anybody who puns or loves language is A ok in my book. I am also curious about House of Gourd, but would rather set up a test shoot to make sure I can take it, and that way they do not waste their time in case I cannot. The fact that he is an engineer is really appealing.

6.   What makes a bondage shoot perfect for you?  And describe for me a theme for a bondage shoot that you have not yet done that you would like to do?

Laid back shoots that let me be creative and playful are the ideal. I would rather just do a day shoot and not worry about the hourly counting. With the time it takes to rig properly, it pains me to see people rush through it.

Oh gosh, a theme? Addie Juniper, my work wife, and I were debating about who could take the harder bondage. We were playfully debating having a bondagathon to see who could take more pressure, ties, etc.  It would have to be rigged by the same person for fairness.

7.  Once you decide that it's time to leave modeling, what do you see yourself doing?

I already have so many things going on that I will fade away just like I came onto the scene. I am going to be working part time in a bookstore in Atlanta, and have the rental properties to maintain. It is oh-so-glamourous to see me take wallpaper down or go through the eviction process. I was a nanny for a decade, so may start a daycare center out of my house.  Maybe go to grad school? The possibilities are endless.

8.  What do you do during your down time to keep fresh and from getting burnt out?

Hmmmm. This one is a hard one because idleness is bothersome. Unfortunately I have not figured out how to relax, and get very listless when there is down time. If I am home for a week, I get antsy if there is nothing lined up. Usually there is so much to do around the house, that I can keep myself occupied chore-wise. Perhaps it will get better with age, because it is not a healthy trait.  

9.  What have you learned about yourself from your experiences as a bondage model?

The best thing has been realizing that in order to avoid the 9 to 5 and all the trappings associated with it, I will get up at 5 am and not go to bed till midnight going from shoot to shoot because this job is way more entertaining. Plus, I finally learned computer skills that they do not teach you in college. "Excuse me professor, I need to book a trip and make it the most cost effective. Will you also help me figure out a way to be diplomatic when I don't know how to talk to someone who wants option A when I want Option B? Also, how do I upload this pic of my hogtie with the anal hook? Can I have an A in your class because I make good mmmph noises with the ballgag?"

10.  You don't have a web site; you don't have or want a Yahoo Group; you're not into social networking sites.  So, aside from Model Mayhem and OMP, how do you market yourself?

It is a hard decision to not do the constant marketing. It is around us all the time. I never want to be the humdrum girl with hubris, and it is hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that people would even want to hear every little detail of my life. Plus, once I got started, I would never leave the computer. There is something very nerve wracking about not responding to an email. The most amazing thing about the bondage community is that everybody has been so receptive and both the models and producers have been very helpful with the word of mouth.

11.  Who do you admire?

Ayn Rand, Ben Stein, and those were the first 2 that popped into my head at first thought. Please shake the magic 8 ball, and I will come up with somebody totally different in a few answers.

12.   Music, books, movies, food -- what are your favorites of each?

Music--The harder stuff like Nine Inch Nails, the 80's stuff like Men at Work and The Cure. But I prefer talk radio and am a total news junkie.  Books-- oh boy, how long do we have? Robert Heinlein, Ayn Rand again, the list could go on....movies--Clockwork Orange, Dogma.  Food--My favorite restaurant is a southern comfort food cafeteria. But a favorite food? I cannot live on one food alone!
