Day 15

The Infirmary Treatment

TIME: 7:47 pm

Karin had contacted Simone and informed her of Rachel's unusual prisoner and that a wounded operative from Sabrina's barracks assault team was being transported to the HQ infirmary. Simone informed Karin that several security police agents were somewhere near the barracks. They then devised a plan to lure the agents back to the barracks to allow the team to eliminate them. The subject of the other wounded operatives did not come up. Dr. Julie has been examining the equipment in the infirmary when the others are brought in.

Katy: I set Carolyn on a litter before feeling a bit dizzy.

Dr. Julie: I walk over to Carolyn.

Laura Sue: I look at Carolyn and then speak to Dr. Julie. "She took slugs in the gut."

Dr. Julie: "I only see one wound right now. Get me some clean gauze."

Katy: I nod as I sit down in a chair.

Laura Sue: I follow Dr. Julie's orders and carry the bandage material not paying attention to Katy.

Katy: Without notice, blood begins to flow down my sleeve. I slowly close my eyes.

Dr. Julie: I continue to work on Carolyn.

Katy: Suddenly, I fall over out of the chair and onto the floor.

Dr. Julie: I turn my head quickly looking at Katy. "Damn!" I leave Carolyn and run over kneeling at Katy.

Laura Sue: I swallow nervously and stand looking at Dr. Julie and Katy.

Dr. Julie: I hold Katy's face with both hands. "Can you hear me?"

Katy: I slowly open my eyes, breathing slower, only nod 'yes'.

Dr. Julie: I pull Katy's zipped blouse open far enough to get my stethoscope on over her heart. I look at Laura Sue. "She's not good!"

Laura Sue: I look around for equipment to help.

Dr. Julie: I start pounding chest compressions. "I'm losing her!"

Laura Sue: I bring the defib.

Katy: My breathing slows more as my chest stops rising.

Dr. Julie: I rip Katy's blouse open and grab the defib from Laura Sue pressing the paddles on her chest. "STAND CLEAR!" The machine beeps and then jolts Katy.

Katy: My body jolts but I remain motionless.

Dr. Julie: I dig in my medical bag for the adrenaline. I jab Katy with it. I am breathing hard. "LIVE DAMNIT!" I place the paddles again as the machine beeps.

Katy: My body jolts with no other response.

Dr. Julie: I notice a small entry wound just above Katy's navel with no blood on it. I look at Katy's face one last time.

Katy: Stare up blankly, mouth slightly open.

Dr. Julie: I close Katy's eyes and sit back aghast.
