The sun was rising over a remote atoll in the South Pacific Ocean. On the shore, lying inside a giant clam shell, were two figures, one male, one female, naked, cuddling together. Both were incredible physical specimens – tan, toned, and ripped, with barely an ounce of fat on either one. The male was blond and tall, around 6’4”; the female was a brunette and around 5’10”. They appeared to be the picture of perfect bliss, hundreds of miles away from any other sign of civilization.
“Mmm, Arthur,” the brunette sighed contentedly, “that was…amazing…”
The man opened his eyes and smiled. “You weren’t so bad yourself, Curia. I know now why they call you ‘Wonder Woman’.”
“And you definitely are the King of the Sea, Aquaman!” Curia sat up slowly, her body still nestled against Arthur’s as she looked out at the amazing sunrise. “I wish we could stay here all day…forever, in fact!”
“You flatter me, Curia. I will need to be getting back to Atlantis before long – Mera’s expecting me to chair a meeting of some sort. A king’s work is never done.”
“Speaking of Mera…are you sure she’s okay with, you know, this?”
“Mera is my queen, and that alone gives her a sense of comfort. She knows that as the King of the Sea, there are certain things I’m going to do that she has to accept. And besides, nobody knows we are here. Even the Watchtower couldn’t find this place. And there’s hundreds more just like it, all across the ocean.”
“Wow…hundreds…”
“So I have to ask you, Wonder Woman – are Clark and Bruce going to be okay with this, if they should find out? Bruce is the master detective, after all.”
“You do realize, dear Arthur, that I’m NOT Diana, right?” she smiled sweetly back at him. “I honestly don’t know what she ever saw in either one of them. And every time I’m in their presence, I know I’m being compared to her, to a ghost, a memory. You’ve never treated me like that. And I know we both grew up much more modestly than either of them did, and didn’t realize our destiny until much later. I feel so much more connected to you than I ever could to a billionaire or a super-powered alien. Trust me.” She leaned down and gave him a deep, powerful kiss.
“Damn.” Arthur shrugged, once the kiss was finally broken. “I guess I’m pretty fortunate then. To be married to Mera, and have Wonder Woman as a side chick.”
Curia gave him a look, then playfully punched him in the shoulder. “Side chick, huh?”
“Ouch, girl, that stung! Did you forget for a moment who you are?” He stood up and pulled on his orange shirt, then his dark green pants and boots.
“Leaving so soon, love?” Curia reached up as if to try and stop him, but it was a halfhearted attempt.
“Yeah, I had better be getting back to Atlantis. But you are welcome to stay here as long as you like.” He put on his golden belt and gloves, then whistled. A few seconds later, his submarine emerged from the water nearby.
Curia watched as he zipped away, then glanced to a rock a few feet away, where all of her clothing and items lay. Then she reclined back into the clam shell, closing her eyes and enjoying the feeling of the morning sun on her body.
Thousands of miles away, at the bottom of the ocean, sat the undersea city of Atlantis. In the heart of the city, sitting on her throne, Mera was livid as she watched a video being shown to her on the large screen before her.
“What is the meaning of this, Siren?” the red-haired queen snarled at the light-green mermaid with completely black eyes that stood before her. “What sort of evil is behind this?”
“No evil,” Siren smiled. “I took this just a few hours ago, it’s very clear what is going on.”
“After everything you have tried to do to me, to Arthur, you expect me to believe you don’t have some sort of hidden agenda? That you’re sharing this with me out of the goodness of your heart?”
“I never said anything of the sort – I just thought you might want to know what kind of man your husband is, Mera.”
“I KNOW what kind of man he is, Siren,” Mera glowered. “He is the King of the Sea! I expect there will be dalliances. But with HER? Wonder Woman?”
“A surface dweller,” Siren snickered. “And an Amazon, at that. You know what kind of tramps they are, how easily they can bend a man to their will.”
“Yes, I’m quite aware. So it sounds like you’re about to propose something?” Mera asked, her full attention now on the mysterious mermaid.
“Yes, I’ll go take care of the Amazon wench for you. Once I’m finished with her, she won’t be a problem for you anymore. Then I’ll return and we can discuss fair compensation for my services.”
“What do you mean, ‘take care of’?” Mera looked unsure. “I don’t want her dead – the last thing we need is the whole Justice League coming down here again, and another war with the surface.”
“Oh no, what I have in mind wouldn’t be permanent, but trust me, she will think twice before jumping in the sack with the King of the Sea again.”
Mera shook her head, weighing the proposal she had just been offered. “Fine. Teach that bitch a lesson, and make sure that nobody can trace this back here, got it?”
Siren grinned. “Our history is well known – nobody would ever believe you would ask me for a favor.”
“I didn’t ask. Now go, do whatever it is you mean to do, and then we’ll see if it’s worth anything.”
Siren bowed her head reverently, then floated away. Mera watched her leave, crossing her arms as she once again glanced at the image frozen on the screen.
“She could have any man she wants,” the Queen of Atlantis muttered, “even Superman, and she has to pick my Arthur?” She finally turned off the screen before it made her any angrier.
I've been trying to write this for a month...here's the first chapter finally
Curia is my OC.
Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Mera, and Siren are the property of DC Comics.

Great opening chapter! It's great to get around to reading more of your stories! I never really know where to start even with the story index :/ I was reading through the timeline and this sounded like a fun story!

Yeah, I got 3 chapters written and hit a wall with it, I need some kind of inspiration to hit me before I can write any more...

I think Curia is going to learn all about the old line involving Hell, fury and scorned women.

Was Aquaman listed on Ashley Madison? Address Atlantis? Oh, if Mera gets her hands on that database, Aquaman will find a trident in a very uncomfortable place.

This seems like an interesting start! I didn't expect Curia to be so, naughty. I wonder if Siren has decided to have some, fun with her.

Even back when I was reading comics in the 1960's up until the early 70's, I never read Aquaman so I am ignorant of the character. As for you - fooling around with a married man, particularly one whose wife is a queen and I imagine is able to call upon tremendous resources, is asking for trouble. You accepted the creep's evasive answer as to what his queen thought of his cheating on her and Mera, the idiot, didn't get specifics as to what Siren's actual program was. This is going to spiral way out of control and leave a lot more things hurt than feelings. I await your next installment.

I wanted there to be an almost 'soap opera drama' to the beginning of this, sounds like I succeeded

You've been teasing me with it for a month or so--Glad to see it materialize. Good start, and Mera's on the warpath
Nice to see some rehabilitation of Aquaman. Somehow he's become the butt of 90% of the DC superhero jokes in the last few years, so it's good to see him actually portrayed in something other than a sad-sack way.
Interesting injections into the superhero/heroine continuities here. And interesting to see the particular expectations Aquaman and Mera bring to the table regarding fidelity. It's complex!
Never before have I wondered whether Aquaman wore underwear. I guess this answers the unasked question!
Looking forward to seeing the next installment...
Do i detect a Back to the Future reference in the title?
