1. What was your first exposure to the world of fetish and bondage? Were you interested in fetish or bondage before you decided to become a model?
My first bit of exposure was just a little rope work for a shoot. I guess I understood that bondage was seen as dirtier or whatever, but to me it was just me modeling without really being able to pose so other than some discomfort, I got paid more to kind of just be in the position I was stuck in. For a while it opened my eyes to the extent of bondage modeling and I explored it until I met my limits. Until I tried it, I wasn’t really interested, but I also didn’t know much about the world of bondage and bondage modeling. Definitely learned a lot personally and professionally.
2. What made you decide to do bondage modeling?
At the time I was tight on money. I was told I could get paid much more for bondage modeling and find jobs easier because most models won’t consider it. Money made it interesting but to learn there was a whole other world I knew nothing about made me way more interested.
3. Describe your first bondage photo and/or video shoot? Were you apprehensive doing it? If so, how did you overcome that feeling? My first shoot luckily was with one of the kindest photographers I know, so to think that he does bondage would be very surprising! I am pretty outgoing and comfortable pushing my limits, but I didn’t have to. The comfort of the person I was working with constantly making sure I was okay was enough to allow me not to question my actions. I think the photographer you work with is very important in the role of how any model would feel about being a bondage model.
4. How did your first bondage shoot compare to the first time you did nude modeling?
It was much easier really. I didn’t have to try so hard, I didn’t have to pose... Haha I could really only open and close my eyes and wiggle a bit. Pretty hard to feel self-conscious when no one could look any different.
5. What do you like most about being a model? What do you least enjoy?
I like the confidence it brings me in the real world, both physically and socially. You have to portray a beauty of some sort and be easy to work with and that alone has taught me many people skills I use in every aspect of my life.
I least enjoy when I work with someone for the first time and they don’t meet my professional standards. I’m not there to flirt, I don’t want you to message or text me in my off time. I like to keep a professional relationship only with all photographers and models. I can usually tell instantly when a photographer is not interested in the photography aspect of our shoot. It is extremely discouraging.
6. What has been the hardest part of being a bondage model?
Not all photographers are great, not all of them care about your comfort levels. The hardest part is finding and separating the real jobs from the perverts out there. It’s exhausting, really.
7. Do you enjoy being tied up? And, if so, what are your favorites -- method of restraint? gag? bondage position? role to play?
I’m actually not a huge fan of gags, but I do like being tied up, in whatever way really. I love to be the submissive. That way you don’t have to think, you just do what you're told.
8. I’ve only seen your bondage work on JB Roper’s websites. Have you worked with other producers? If so, what other sites showcase your bondage work? How do you decide whether to shoot bondage with a producer who expresses interest in working with you?
I have worked with some others, sadly, not more than once. JB Roper is the only consistent bondage work I have done.
9. What was your worst experience at a photoshoot, bondage or non-bondage? And what did you learn from it?
The most important part of a bondage shoot is that you TRUST the person you are working with. You trust them to know your limits and you trust them to make sure you are not harmed. You trust them to stop when you tell them you need them to. I’ve had a photographer push me past my limits even when they knew they were doing so. That taught me to really make sure I can trust someone before I work with them. Especially with work that makes you so vulnerable.
10. Has shooting bondage ever come back to haunt you when you looked for work on a non-bondage shoot or job outside of modeling?
It has yet to affect any work. However, it has affected my relationships... And by that I mean the family of the person I am with. Not everyone is as open minded and understanding as I am, and somehow being so desensitized to the idea that bondage is supposed to be sexual I forget that most people don’t know how professional behind the scenes can really be!
11. I found a Tumblr page that describes itself as a blog that showcases “the most beautiful women tightly bound and gagged” and you’re featured there. What do you think of that?
I think it’s an honor to be shared as that. There’s a lot of work similar out there so for mine to stand out, for whatever reason is definitely a compliment.
12. Are there any photographers/producers you would like to work with? And why them?
Because it’s hard to trust strangers, I do not seek out bondage work. I am open to it if I am contacted, but I always check into it, check references, check the website, check the paperwork... standard safety checks haha
13. JB uses the word “submissive” to describe you as part of his introduction to a number of your photosets on his two websites. Do you agree with that characterization of you? Why or why not?
Absolutely, haha! From the beginning I had been clueless. I show up and do what I’m told, that’s it. I wouldn’t know it any other way. I don’t even think I could possibly portray the dominant. I don’t know what the hell I’m doing!! Haha too giggly to be giving any orders really.
14. What has been the most exciting moment for you since you began bondage modeling and why?
Probably this interview. I wasn’t really aware anyone followed my bondage work, so to find out that someone was interested is absolutely flattering!
15. If you could go back and change anything about your career, what would it be?
Mainly just some mistakes I’ve made when I was younger that discouraged me from working in the bondage world. If only then I had known I needed a safety checklist.... Newbies!
16. What else do you want your fans to know about KylieJo?
In the real world I am just as innocent as I seem on JB's website. Just a cute girl with a dirty mind. And very curious about everything.
17. And lastly, if your modeling work ever brings you to New York City or New Jersey, will you let me buy you lunch?
Absolutely! I am flattered that you’ve asked me to be the one to complete this interview and that alone awards you a lunch! Plus who rejects free lunch?!
