This is a followup from  Suitcase: From Two Perspectives
A short story from the perspectives of both participants.  I hope you enjoy at least one of them :)
It was Monday morning, and the man was sitting in a chair in his living room, getting ready to head to the office to start his week.  The people who knew him called him "The Collector," although perhaps "The Merchant" would have been a more appropriate name for what he did.  He was in the business of acquiring unique and valuable items, processing them and adding them to his inventory, and then eventually selling them to the highest bidder.  He had just returned from a very fruitful trip where he added several valuable items to his 'collection'; the suitcase still sitting in his living room attested to the fact that he needed to be ready to go at a moment's notice if a new item became available.
He had been in this business for years and had become very adept at finding and acquiring such items, but every now and then he'd get exceptionally lucky and an item would fal
and contains themes that some may find disturbing, you have been warned ;)

The Collector walked into his 'office', wheeling the black suitcase behind him.  He sat it down carefully on the floor next to two large plastic containers, knelt next to it and carefully unzipped it.  Once it was open he carefully unhooked the elastic straps and reached in to pull the petite brunette out and gently to its feet.

The brunette blinked, clearly still out of it as he pulled its hands up and over its head, locking them together and chaining them to a bar in the ceiling.  Once it was secure, he took it by the chin and looked into its big brown eyes.

"Keep quiet and behave and you might live through the day.  Misbehave and I'll slit your throat."

He had had issues before with inventory and discovered that fear was the greatest motivator.  He walked away from the still-groggy brunette for now - he had other work to do before he could turn his attention back to this one.  As he crossed his work area he stopped at two clear, shallow plastic bins that were each covered with a sheet.  He pulled them back to reveal two more items: an Asian and a blonde, both unconscious.  He had acquired both the night before at the local mall, and had started checking them in as inventory but today he needed to finish the process.

He knelt down and carefully lifted the Asian female up and carried it over to an empty table; then he returned and picked up the blonde, taking it to a second table adjacent to the first.  He brought his laptop over and sat at the table with the Asian; he was about to start typing when his phone rang.

"Hello?  Ah yes, thank you, I am doing well for a Monday.  Yes, of course I know why you're calling.  Did you catch the game last night by chance?  What a finish! Well at the moment my inventory is a little low.  I have an Asian and a blonde that I just got in last night, they should be completely inventoried and ready for sale by lunchtime at the latest."

He stood up and started walking towards the dazed brunette as he continued his conversation.  "Well as it turns out I picked up a brunette just this morning.  Yes, I think you'll probably be interested.  I do have a busy morning but perhaps for you I can shuffle my schedule and send you the info on it by lunchtime.  Fine, bye."

He slid his phone into his pocket and then turned his attention to the brunette.  "Looks like you won't be hanging there all morning after all.  Time to start checking you into inventory."  He reached up and unlocked its wrists, pulling them back behind it in one smooth motion before latching them together again.  "Let's get you familiar with the Rules while I pack these other items away for now."  He grabbed the brunette by the neck, leading it over to a mat at one of the tables and then pushing it down to its knees so it was eye level with the piece of paper taped to the end of the table.

"Keep reading that over and over until you can remember it without looking."  He took a quick glance at the brunette's fear-filled expression, enjoying what he saw; then he turned his attention back to the two items on the tables - they would have to go back in the bins for now.  He retrieved a cloth and soaked it with the same solution he had used on the brunette earlier, gently placing it first over the Asian's face and then the blonde's.  Then he carefully carried each one back to the same bins he had removed them from before.  While they might wake up before he was finished, the sedative would keep them groggy until he was ready for them again.

Achmed was a bit bored as he got dressed that morning.  He was a Muslim living in Saudi Arabia, and a very rich one at that; his family owned a large number of oilfields.  He and his brother Mohammed had lived a fairly easy life in some ways but not in others; while their father's wealth allowed them to indulge any wish or fantasy they had, the one thing both brothers wished for more than anything was to have their mother back.

A number of years before, during the Iraq War, their beautiful Arab mother was taken by an American soldier while she was visiting her sister near Baghdad.  Their father didn't seem to care - he had plenty of concubines - but Achmed and Mohammed were teens at the time and were devastated.  They had made every effort they could to try and find their mother, but apparently she had been whisked off to the US somewhere and they had no idea where.  They could only hope that she was alive and well somewhere; and as time went on their hatred of America and everything it stood for grew greater.

Then about a year ago the brothers found out about a company in America that was involved in the buying and selling of females, and they became acquainted with the owner, the man they called The Collector.  They took a trip there and were so impressed with his operation and quality that they stayed for an auction and returned home with two of the finest American items available - one blonde and one brunette.  It didn't matter at the time that they were bidding against each other, but the next trip they made they came to an agreement: Mohammed would only buy blondes, and Achmed would buy brunettes.  And The Collector always seemed to have an inventory of both.

Each brother had a mansion, and there lived the American females each brother had acquired.  The brothers treated them well inasmuch as they took good care of them and didn't physically hurt them, but it was made clear to each one that joined the harem that their value was as property and for breeding.  With the exception of the newest arrivals, all of them were in different stages of pregnancy, and all of them had learned to please and satisfy their Arab masters without fail.  That was one benefit of purchasing merchandise from The Collector - he ensured all of his inventory were trained and understood what their status was as objects, before the sale ever happened.  And now that Achmed and Mohammed had bought from him before, they didn't even have to make a trip there, The Collector sent them all of the vital stats and photos ahead of time and then as the money was wired to him he shipped the merchandise directly to whichever brother had made the purchase.

Achmed spent the morning checking on his harem, particularly the ones that had been bred and were expecting.  He smiled as he acknowledged to himself how he and his brother were taking some measure of revenge on the evil Americans that had taken their mother, and how wonderful it was that all of these Caucasian females were going to be giving birth to Arab babies.  In his mind there were few things more beautiful than watching his concubines become great with child and the knowledge that he was doing his part to wipe their kind from existence.

It had been a while since he'd placed an order with The Collector, and perhaps that was the reason for his boredom; so once he knew that it was morning in the US and The Collector would be in his office, he placed a call.

"Hi, yes, Mr. Collector? It is Achmed. How are you this fine day? I am sure you know why I would be calling you.  Oh you mean the basketball game with the Warriors, yes I saw the end this morning.  So do you have any items I might be interested in?  Now Mr. Collector, you know that I have no interest in Asians, and my brother is the one who buys blondes.  Oh, you do have a brunette, just this morning already?  Please send me everything you have on it then.  Oh, not until lunchtime? Let's see, yes I will have just finished the last meal here.  I will wait for your call!"

Achmed hung up and as he did he was already wondering about the new brunette.  He wondered if she was from university like so many of the others in his harem.  He wondered how he had acquired her so early in his day; but he knew that The Collector rarely gave out that sort of information.  He imagined she was probably a lot like the others he had acquired: beautiful, probably between the ages of 18 and 24, and not particularly intelligent, which made them easier to train in general.  He thought they must all have been rich American party girls before The Collector took ownership of them - and for the most part, though he didn't know it, he was generally right about that.

What is disturbing about the story is that it happens so much in real life.  I don't know if anyone has an accurate estimate of the number of kidnappings per year for the purposes of slavery, particularly sex slavery.-, but it is probably in the scores of thousands.  Your depiction of the slaver as an average looking guy with a sociopathic personality with the inability to regard the women he kidnaps as anything other than 'merchandise' is probably close to the mark.  I don't know of any reports of American soldiers selling Iraqi women into slavery, though I suppose it might have happened.  I do know that American soldiers were facing years in prison for kicking the crap out of Afghani soldiers who were raping children because the Americans disrespected their culture.  Slavery is endemic throughout the Middle East and seems to be woven into the culture.  Achmed doesn't need the spur you gave him to do what he does.  I trust his attitude towards American women is his viewpoint and not yours.  I like Denise even though she frequently drives me to distraction with her incredibly dumb actions.  I would love to read a story by you in which she comes out a winner.  Anyway, a good story and rates a 'Favorite' with me.

Thanks, and of course his attitude is not mine. And you are 100% right, this is very close to reality and therefore it can come across as disturbing which is why I added that disclaimer.  And I don't mean to drive you to distraction so often ;)

Loved how you refer to the girls as 'it', 'inventory', and 'property'

That's how The Collector refers to them. And thanks!

I'm sure the 'training' is equally intense.

Looks like these dolls are going to be shipped off overseas. No more evidence of them existing before long.

nice touch by referring to the girls as "items", "it" and others... it certainly helps the narrative perspective, and makes clear how these guys see them...

Great story, loved the perspective of the Collector and the buyer and their screwed up reason for buying Caucasian women. Wouldn't the brothers be surprised if their mother wanted to escape!!!! Quite a fun read!!!Nod Nod Nod Nod

The revenge angle is don't see that often as a motivation in these types of stories.  Gives a little more depth in that perspective than the cold, business-like Collector, and adds some dynamism.  Great job.

Yes, I could see that. It is the perspective of two perpetrators, though, so the poor victim has lost her voice, in every sense. Along with her freedom and her gender, which is, as Rob says, diabolical. :-)
